Staff are wonderful... THey know their kayaks too.... listened to what we wanted and made some suggestions that worked out great for my wife and I. Price is not an option since all kayaks are the same price regardless of the store... so you look for what else the business has to offer... this one has knowlegable friendly staff!

I called ACK in early to July, 2016 to see if they had a particular boat in stock. I wanted to buy a Current Designs Solstice GT as I had paddled this sea kayak before and liked it, and I felt it would be a safe first boat for me. I wanted to depart soon on a long journey and ACK had the GT in stock. I placed a phone order for the boat and then came into the shop a few days later to purchase all the other equipment I needed. Dave Young, the owner, patiently spent the time with me to help me with each decision, I appreciated that much. He also showed me how to car top my boat home without a rack. That was a great skill to learn.. A few days later I set off from Alexandria, headed for the Great Lakes. I made it to Buffalo, NY and then I paddled the Mississippi River. My equipment worked out great and I think ACK played a big part in my success by stocking quality boats and equipment and offering advice based on much knowledge and experience. I'm a believer in buying local and supporting small businesses. I feel good about making my purchases at ACK.
