Withholding cardiac meds on a dog, Really?? For some reason, only the cover sheet of our dogs Rx got faxed in to the pharmacy. Closed on weekend and our dog is now out of cardiac meds. The referring office refusing to give us as much as a weekend refill because they personally have not seen the dog in 7 years and do not have access to his files. Telling us to call the 866# which specifically states "on call will NOT refill meds." Offices tells us, "but you can bring him in for an emergency visit to get a prescription." Sounds like a money hungry office with little knowledge about cardiac issues and pets. Please get yourself better trained staff answering the phone! Even the pharmacist tells us this is unacceptable. Not happy.
I am not only one of the referring veterinarians for this practice, but my cat Gus is also a cardio patient. I am always impressed with the dedication and compassion that all the doctors show their clients and patients. My practice is over 2 hours away and they are always willing to consult over the phone if I need advice. My clients always come back with great reviews as well. You guys are awesome!
Dr. Hickey was so great with my cat. He is easily scared but the staff there were gentle and caring and didn't scare him even with the machines running, plus they let me stay wit him through it all. My cat is on heart medication and the manufacturer has had backorders this year making it hard at times getting refills but they were always there on the phone to both suggest where to call, and to immediately approve with the pharmacy when the drug was located. Very helpful during a stressful time when your pet's life depends on the drug.
